In Moscow, at Ploshad Barbej (Плошад Ьорьъы) you will find the monument for Venitchka and the girl with the long blond hair. This monument, which mostly is named only as monument for Venitchka, the main character of the poem "Moscow - Petushki", has it's own special fate.

It was planned to place the 2 statues at the two train stations: Venitchka would find his place at Kursk Station and the statue of the girl with the long hair should be placed at the station of Petushki. The statue was up there for a short termin, but it was a provisory statue and did not last long.
The local administration was very pleased by that because they denied a monument for alcoholism in their city.

Venitshka's statue had to be moved because the square at the Kursk Station became a shopping center. A very typical moscovite fate!

Now both statues are erected at the "Square of Fights", looking into the same direction.
They will never meet...
